Pinamar

Born in France in 1990. Before becoming an artist, Pinamar is a traveler. Very attracted to Latin America, he lived in Brazil, Martinique and Panama. It is there that he found painting as a passion, following in the footsteps of his mother, a painter-sculptor and visual arts proffesor.

He fell in love with Mexico in 2010 during the university exchange he did in Mexico City. Since then, he has returned several times. He decided to move to Guadalajara to create his first series of paintings entitled “Mexico”.

In his painting, Pinamar evokes both personal life experiences and current issues. It always does so by representing one or more characters whose paths, a priori naifs, end up being confused with other elements related to the theme of the painting.

Mexican culture can be felt in his drawings, for example through his references to the animal world that can remind us of Otomi craftsmanship. But if there is something that identifies the artist, it is the use of vibrant colors, which reflect both Mexican folklore and the optimistic and cheerful character of the painter.

It is difficult to attribute to Pinamar a single artistic movement. We can definitely perceive a touch of surrealism as well as some raw art and pop art.

Pinamar admires Picasso, Miró, Klee and other artists such as Matisse, Dufuffet, Calder, le Corbusier or Basquiat who were very influential to create his own style.
